National Fil-O League Tournament Rules :

I. PLAYING FORMAT:

  1. The teams will be divided into Two Groups. Each Team will play a Round Robin draw within their group. The Top Two Teams in each Group will qualify automatically to the Semi-Finals with position 1A versus 2B and position 1B versus 2A. The winners of these matches will face each other in knockout championship.
  2. A team is allowed to a minimum of 8 players and a maximum of 12 players. Identical and matching uniforms should be worn by each team.


II. POINTS SYSTEM:

  1. Points will be awarded as Win - 4 points / Win by Forfeit - 3 Points / Draw - 2 points / Lose by Forfeit - minus 4 Points / Lose - 1 point.
  2. In case of TIE at end of Round 1, Quotient System will apply.
  3. To assist efficient, accurate and fun national invitational games, each Team must appoint a scorer and timekeeper to cover a game except in the semis and grand finals.


III. PLAYING RULES: (FIBA / NSWBA Rules will apply. All Teams should be aware of the following additional Rules and Conditions.)

  1. A team should have at least 3 players to start a game. A game will be considered a forfeit by the end of 1st half with a 20 - 0 score. Teams should arrive 10 minutes before the game to fill in the score sheet, otherwise game clock is started on schedule. Game clock starts five minutes after scheduled playing time.
  2. Out of uniform players will incur a 5 points penalty awarded to the opposing team.
  3. If a timeout is called in the last 2 minutes of the game, inbound will occur on the half court line.
  4. Only designated court captains may communicate their concerns to the referees in a diplomatic manner otherwise a technical foul will be called. Two successive technical fouls would mean banishment from the playing venue.
  5. Players substitutions should only be done during deadballs or timeouts.
  6. One minute timeout in the 1st half (running time) and 2 one minute timeout in the second half (stopped clock). Teams in possession of the ball can call for a timeout provided they are not under pressure from the opposing team.
  7. Fully timed last two minutes of the second half, with bench officials to be aware of 30 second violations.
  8. Unless otherwise stated, FIBA / NSWBA rules will serve as a guide and tournament committee shall have the final decision.
  9. Non players and guests will only watch the game from the gallery and not interfere with officiating the ongoing game.
  10. Food is not allowed inside the playing court. Teams are required to clear their area of rubbish.
  11. No facial jewellery by players is allowed. Pierced jewellery should be covered by tape (BYO Tape)
  12. To continue our friendly interstates competition tradition since 1979, State Directors, Managers, Team Coaches, Coordinators are responsible for their team behaviour inside the venue, parking area and public places. They will be liable for damages and any public mischief.
  13. Trouble makers are not allowed in the competition. After officials and tournament committee assessment that a Team/s or its players are involved in dangerous, fighting, rough and dirty physical play, the game is Stop and undisciplined players will be asked to leave the premises.
